Embracing open in cybersecurity is a radical departure from the status quo. If this idea catches on, people will come out of the woodwork to claim this only gives away information to attackers. But the truth is, attackers already know how to attack us. Embracing open only levels the playing field. The debate goes all the way back to 1853.
Still think I’m nuts? Ponder a couple of questions. How is the status quo working out? Are you tired of rampant ransomware, daily data breaches, an identity theft epidemic, and deer-in-the-headlights responses? Maybe it’s time to try something different.
From the Long Island, New York (LINY) ISC2 Chapter, delivered February 28, 2022.
I first offered this idea back in 2019 in MSP Red Hat User Group.
