Minneapolis Star Tribune: Internet-Fueled Hysteria Turns a County Prosecutor Into a Witch Hunter

Erin Adler wrote a great article in the December 7, 2019 Minneapolis Star Tribune about how the Dakota County, MN. prosecutor put my 12-year-old grandson through a court trial for playing in a park in a costume and mask when he was 11. Here is her article. Here is a PDF in case the link goes stale.

Lots of people are asking why the County Prosecutor chose to put my grandson on trial. I saw the boilerplate answers. If I ever find the real reason, I’ll post it. Whatever the reason, I do know this: never give in to bullying. Not on the playground, and especially not when bullies are adults wearing business suits.

Jennifer Brooks also wrote a great column in the Dec. 10, 2019 Minneapolis Star Tribune about social media hysteria. Seems my grandson is far from alone. Here is her column and here is a PDF in case the Star Tribune link goes bad.

We can use the internet to zip information around the planet in a few seconds these days. We can also use the internet to zip garbage around the planet in a few seconds. With all this technology at our fingertips, let’s hope we find the wisdom to use it wisely.

If you want to help make a difference, share this page, my blog post, and my radio interview on this topic widely. Maybe you can stop a social media mob or over-eager prosecutor from targeting another family.
