Red Hat and the open source movement turn conventional wisdom on its head by making money selling free software. The added value – and revenue – comes with support subscriptions. Beyond traditional break/fix support, and for no additional charge, Red Hat support subscriptions also include a nifty, automated capability called Red Hat Insights.
Systems register with Insights and periodically report telemetry. Insights matches telemetry with a growing database of improvement recommendations and security vulnerabilities, and offers that information in real time to subscribers.
I mentioned two URLs in the video to remember.
- https://console.redhat.com – to access Red Hat Insights and other tools.
- https://access.redhat.com/security – for security information.
I forgot to define CVE in the video.
CVE – Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures. Think of a CVE as a security-related bug.
