Anytime somebody says, “I read your profile and decided to contact you for your advice and collaboration,” it has to be a scam. Which profile? Where? But, as a public service, I played along and asked a challenge question. “What do you think about the overall tax strategy I blog about?” Don’t tell this clown, but I don’t know anything about tax strategy and I’ve never blogged about it. If you follow my tax advice, you’ll probably regret it. Which is the whole point of a challenge question. Ask a bogus question to engage the potential attacker and see if they offer clues about who they really are and what they want.

I’ll give this one a D-. They got my attention, but for the wrong reasons from a scammer’s POV. And I doubt this attacker is from the UK. The original email really did come from Gmail, so there’s no easy way to locate the sender.

A vague reference to a profile. An appeal to my ego for advice. The scam markers don't get much more obvious. I responded to you don't need to. Also because I was curious.
