Final update, January 17, 2026. I wasn’t going to write a blog post about the ICE Minneapolis murder because I didn’t think I had anything unique or useful to contribute beyond the outrage I share with millions of Americans. But shortly after an ICE agent shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in the head the morning of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the President of the United States lied to the world about it on his social media platform.

Trump sent 2000 ICE agents to Minneapolis because Minneapolis has a large Somali population, some are wrapped up in fraud allegations, Trump says Somalis are garbage, and he wants to round them up and either deport or imprison them. So, when anybody gets in the way, it must be somebody from the radical left threatening, assaulting, and targeting law enforcement officers.
How do I know Trump is lying? Because the videos are easy to find. Only this time, the lies are not about money and corruption. This time, Renee Nicole Good will never go home to her family because an ICE agent murdered her.
Here is the sequence of events from the videos:
- A silver truck with ICE agents pulls up on the left. A maroon minivan is in its way on the right.
- Two masked ICE agents exit the truck, one from the passenger side, the other from the driver’s side. Both head toward the van.
- The driver’s side agent grabs the minivan door to pull it open.
- The van driver backs the van a few feet, cuts the wheels to the right and moves forward.
- The van passes a third ICE agent, who moves from in front of the van to the left of the van’s driver’s side.
- That agent leans in and fires at least three shots at the driver’s head. The van moves a few feet down the street and smashes into another car.
- After the shooting, a physician offered to render aid to the driver, dying from gunshot wounds to her face. ICE agents prohibited it.
- Subsequent pictures show blood all over the steering wheel air bag in the van.
Contrary to the lies Trump spewed, nobody ran over any ICE officer. No ICE officer is recovering in any hospital because no ICE officers were injured. The videos show the shooter walking briskly away after the shooting. But DHS Secretary, Kristi Noem, tells a different story.
“It’s very clear this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations,” Noem said. “Our officer followed his training and did exactly what he’s been taught to do in that situation and took actions to defend himself and his fellow law enforcement officers.”

I expect the State of Minnesota to file murder charges. I also expect Kristi Noem and the Trump MAGA cult will fight any legal action and make up slogans about evil liberals who hate America.
The MAGA cult defending its heroes, no matter what the videos and the facts show, is a long and well-worn pattern. Now a mother is dead because an agent of the United States Federal Government reached into her driver’s window and blew her brains all over her vehicle. Maybe this time, a few MAGA cult members will wake up. Or is murder now an approved tactic now to make America great again?
Hopefully the case moves forward and finds a judge with backbone.
A couple days later
I posted this shortly after midnight, Thursday, January 8, 2026, less than 24 hours after the murder, after Trump spewed his firehose of falsehoods across the internet. I thought it was important to quickly post this squirt gun of truth for the couple people who might see it. Two days later, we have more video from more angles and we know the name of the shooter. That article is behind a paywall. Here is a PDF.
The shooter’s name is Jonathan Ross. He is a 10-year ICE veteran and he tangled with another car in an earlier ICE raid.
After a vehicle nearly killed Ross in that earlier raid, Ross put himself in another dangerous position in front of Renee Nicole Good’s van in Minneapolis. Experts have questioned that decision.
MAGA cult members argue that Ross killed Good in self defense because Ross positioned himself in front of the driver’s side corner of Good’s van before Good tried to drive away. The MAGA argument is wrong because Ross created the danger to himself, and self defense does not apply when the shooter creates the dangerous situation. And then Ross blasted three bullets at point blank range into Good’s brain when she tried to drive away.
Trump’s FBI now owns the “investigation” exclusively, which means the odds are better than even that no jury will ever hear both sides and make a decision. This is great news for the MAGA crowd. ICE will probably get away with this one. And probably more after that.
Trump’s new private army. Our tax dollars at work.
Ten Days after the murder
News reports say that Renee Good had two bullet wounds in her chest, one in her arm, and maybe another one in her head. That Minnesota Star Tribune article is behind a paywall. Here is a PDF. Ten days after the murder, we still don’t know how many bullets pierced her body because nobody is objectively investigating it.
On January 9, Kristi Noem’s Department of Justice announced that it would not pursue any civil rights investigation. Several federal prosecutors resigned over that decision. Instead, the DOJ announced the FBI would lead the investigation. The FBI immediately shut out everyone local from the “investigation.”
Last year, Trump’s FBI Director, Kash Patel, used my tax money to fly an FBI jet half-way across the country for a date with his girlfriend. He spent years telling us that the 2020 election was rigged. He wrote a children’s book showing Trump as a king, saving the land from evil liberals. At crime scenes, he likes to make sure he wears a nice fitting jacket displaying the right patches. This is the guy in charge of investigating a murder at the hands of a United States federal agent. Patel is in over his head. Don’t expect anything useful.
And now, instead of investigating this murder, the United States Department of Justice wants to investigate Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, and Minneapolis Mayor, Jacob Frey for impeding the ICE campaign in Minnesota.
Here are a few examples of the ICE campaign in Minnesota.
- Here is a story about ICE agents banging on a woman’s door and demanding she tell them where she was born.
- Here is another story about ICE agents kidnapping, tackling, and detaining a young American in Minneapolis.
- ICE agents ate lunch at a Wilmar, MN. Mexican restaurant, and then returned to kidnap its owner and and an employee.
- Here is a story about ICE grabbing two Target employees in Richfield, Minnesota and stuffing them into an SUV.
- Here is a story about ICE agents pulling a woman out her car and taking her away.
- In this story, an ICE agent with an accent arrested US citizen, Ramon Menera, outside his Twin Cities home, in front of his five-year-old daughter, because he has an accent.
More stories about SUVs filled with masked and armed ICE agents grabbing people from schools, stores, parking lots, the streets, their homes, and across Minnesota accumulate every day. ICE agents in Minnesota are now sweeping neighborhoods, banging on doors, and demanding people give up names of neighbors not born in the United States. As a Minnesotan, I am grateful for our local leaders standing up to bullies. Maybe we can start a trend.
Meanwhile, the Trump Truth Social propaganda campaign continues as Trump spends his nights posting more and more deranged content like this. Trump has also threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act.

The MAGA crowd still calls Renee Good a trained agitator. They say she cared more about impeding ICE agents doing their jobs than her own children. Instead of looking into how and why she died, they attack how she lived. That article is behind a paywall. Here is a PDF.
Renee Good lived two blocks away from the murder scene. She trained to learn protest tactics to help defend her friends and neighbors. She paid with her life. Around 250 years ago, our country’s founders called people who opposed an occupying army, patriots. Today, the MAGA crowd calls them paid agitators.
Do not believe the lies. Renee Good, RIP.
